A group of accomplished art teachers set out to dispel a common myth about the abilities of teachers with their show, “Those Who Teach, CAN.” The artwork, from Champaign Unit 4 School District Art Teachers, represents the diverse talents of its faculty, working in a range of media. A variety of styles and techniques display the diversity of the art pieces and their creators. These artist-educators prove that they CAN with their creative, inspirational, and thoughtful works of art.
As part of the Art Exhibitions Course at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, this class exhibition was curated with local high school art teachers. This project included interviewing artists; writing curatorial statements, posters and wall text; designing the layout and installation, installation and de-installation; and hosting the opening reception.
