The stark transition of neutral colors from inorganic materials, to synthetic color in the circular path in the middle, to nature develops a journey for visitors to understand their place in the world, between artificial and natural.
The hardscaping in the upper left corner is formed by alternating concrete pavers. The tree formation in the middle serves as a seating area and is formed of black stone. The borders around the outside of this section are made from a non-reflective stainless steel and include lighting for the space.
In the bottom left section, the asphalt material used on the ground and basins of different landscaping materials fill up the space where plants would typically be in a landscape design.
Dividing the two main sections is a path of synthetic clay that has been colored and formed into different sized circles. This divider connects the two opposite sides by taking the inorganic from the left and the colors of life from the right.
Right of the the colorful pathway is a wooden boardwalk that runs over a marsh. The boardwalk sits just 1 foot above the marsh area to allow for enjoyment of the landscape while allowing the ease of walking on a flat surface. This side also has a stream running through it with various mud pools and native plants growing alongside it.
